Metis is the brainchild of Simon Clark and Jonathan Peachey. We have both founded, grown and sold our own consultancies and had up to 100 people working for us. Like you, we made things up as we went along, starting with a few spreadsheets and a lot of micromanagement, and then adding specialist tools like timesheets and expenses systems. Along the way, we merged our businesses and became part of the top team at a marketing services group where we focused on improving margins, sales pipeline and management information.
We worked with some wonderful people and learned that whilst everyone has their own ways of doing things, there are some fundamentals that make all the difference between awesome and average. Metis is the distillation of all that we learned and bottles not only the tools we wish we’d had when we were running our businesses, but some of the practices that we saw the very best firms and agencies using. It’s a journey we’ll never complete because we’re always meeting new businesses with their own great ideas. Like magpies, we try to keep bringing the best of what we see back in to Metis for all our clients to benefit from.
Jonathan and Simon talk a lot but the real work in Metis is done by an amazing team of experts who make the magic happen.
James is a product powerhouse with a passion for things that are simple, clear and easy to use. He knows a bit about this stuff too: before Metis he held a succession of high profile product roles including heading up the BBC iPlayer.
Elena is passionate about making Metis beautifully simple to use. She constantly reminds us that fancy software is no use if people don’t understand it or object to using it. Before Metis, Elena worked with a range of organisations including the BBC, Argos, Skype and Homebase.
Ida is an artist in software. She loves writing it, designing it and managing teams of other developers who build it. For Metis she brings passion, rigour and energy to our engineering to make sure that what we build lives up to our customers’ expectations. Before Metis, Ida worked for the BBC and Accenture.
Kayleigh makes sure our customers have the best possible experience from the moment they decide to trial or sign up to Metis. She cares deeply about quality in everything we do from the way we write our help to the way we deal with support requests.
A star programmer in the making, Bene works with our customers, product and development teams to set up trials, resolve issues, suggest product improvements and test our new releases. She can also say ‘commemorative stamp’ in Mandarin. Bene’s currently on study leave at the prestigious 42 code academy in Paris.
Our clients trust Metis to run their businesses. Chris makes sure Metis can release innovative, new software every two weeks and still be thoroughly tested. Chris has a background in theoretical physics and network design. So we don’t often win arguments with him.
Duygu is part of our product team. Her job is to think through the exciting new things we plan to add to Metis, and talk to users about whether they are valuable and easy to use. Duygu learnt her skills setting up her own software business whilst studying for an MBA in Chicago. She’s the first person we have ever seen bring Okra to work.
Antonio is our analytics guru. He sees beauty in numbers and turns that beauty into insight for us about our customers and potential customers. Before Metis, Antonio worked in a similar role for a company selling sales promotions, and has also trained as a software developer. He’s definitely not the Weakest Link in the Metis team having made it all the way to the final of the Portuguese version of the show.
Elisabeth’s mission is to give you the information you need, when you need it – whether you’re considering using Metis or are already a customer. She decided content was the safer option after working with explosive toxic gases and has since written for New Scientist, Cable & Wireless and Vodafone.
Can Metis really make it easier to take better decisions now and in the future? We show you more on our features pages. But there’s only so much that we can show you here. A demo will give you a concise overview of how it works, with live screens, in whatever time you have available, with one of our expert users. There’s no obligation.
